Given the multifaceted needs of nonprofits, all of ESC’s services — in board development, leadership development, fundraising, strategic planning, and management consulting — are tailored to each client organization. And since many organizational needs are inter-related, multiple areas are often addressed through our projects in order to provide the most effective support. Some ESC programs, like our Executive Director Institutes, bring together nonprofit leaders for group training sessions on major issues in nonprofit management in addition to the one-on-one consulting and coaching that is the hallmark of all ESC services.
A crucial component of the ESC approach is that all services are delivered through executive coaching: instead of doing the work for our clients, we teach them how to do it themselves, and we help them tackle the underlying issues that lead to sustainable change. Thus, many of our engagements are twelve to eighteen months in length, allowing us to not only have a substantive and nuanced understanding of each nonprofit client and their needs, but also affording the client the ability to implement change with the continued assistance and support of their consultant(s).
