"For the organization to grow, I had to evolve"
Victoria Young Lanier, founding Executive Director of Education Through Music - Los Angeles, had a dream to close the music education gap in Los Angeles by bringing music education to students in low-income schools. ESC is helping her achieve that dream. Since her first experience with ESC in 2010, Victoria's journey with ESC has seen results. She's successfully grown the organization from serving 800 students in two schools in 2006 to over 12,000 students in 25 schools today.
Victoria is one of ESC’s many repeat clients, having benefited from our Executive Directors Leadership Institute, our Developing Development Program, and, currently, leadership coaching and professional development training for her staff. Victoria says: "I keep coming back to ESC because I’m a lifelong learner, and I’m an educator at heart."
We're so glad we've been able to be there for Victoria every step of the way. We've been able to do this thanks to the financial support of individuals like you, who make sure our services are accessible to nonprofit leaders and their organizations, regardless of mission, size or budget.
Will you help keep our services accessible by making a gift to ESC? Your gift will make a meaningful difference to nonprofit leaders like Victoria, and in turn the many individuals and communities they serve.
I felt overwhelmed when I became Interim Executive Director of Outfest in March 2015. Yes, our mission was clear – Outfest works to create equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen – but how were we going to effectively meet our mission in today’s changing cultural landscape?
That’s when I reached out to ESC, and they matched me with my coach Agapito Diaz. Here he was… a quiet, reflective counterpoint to the frenzy I was experiencing in my new role. With his support, I started to build confidence in my leadership and vision for the organization, and in October 2015, I was appointed as Outfest’s new Executive Director.
When I think about my work with ESC, especially Agapito, I can’t help but be grateful. That’s why today I’m inviting you to join me this #GivingTuesday on November 28th and make a contribution to ESC in honor of your ESC consultant.
I have pledged $150 as a tribute gift, which helps ensure that other leaders like us have the opportunity to work with an ESC consultant and to be supported to their highest leadership potential.
