The Project
Harbor Interfaith Services Executive Director and CEO Tahia Hayslet participated in ESC’s yearlong Wells Fargo New Executive Directors Institute.
The New Executive Directors Institute supports and builds the skills of nonprofit executives who have been in their roles for less than three years. ESC also offers the Wells Fargo Executive Directors Leadership Institute for more seasoned executive directors. Both institutes combine six daylong group training sessions with the ongoing services of a personal executive coach and provide participants with a peer support network of other nonprofit executive directors.
ESC’s coaching makes the difference. According to a recent CompassPoint study, executive coaching boosts training impact by 88%, compared to only 28% overall improvement from training alone.
The Result
The yearlong New Executive Directors Institute offered through ESC was a very rewarding experience that not only offered growth but also meaningful insight, solutions and an opportunity for shared experiences with other nonprofit leaders. I walked away very energized.
The leadership and knowledge displayed through this program was amazing, and the knowledge I gained throughout the program showed me that there was light at the end of the tunnel. Attending these classes over the course of a year was my bimonthly retreat. In my brief years as executive director this was one of the opportunities that I truly looked forward to, and it was a strong motivation as I moved forward in my role.
