The Project
The Cárdenas Foundation began their partnership with ESC when they had reached a plateau of growth and development. Focused on strengthening their Board of Directors, the organization was able to develop new structures and practices that led to greater productivity.
ESC’s Board Development programs work closely with an organization’s volunteer and professional leadership to address key issues that improve a nonprofit Board’s efficacy. ESC consultants work as a team with the nonprofit’s leaders on issues such as recruitment, planning, governance, leadership development, and succession planning. By using a coaching model and working to strengthen the partnership of the Board and executive leadership, ESC consultants help client organizations develop the structure and implement key changes that are the foundation for lasting, effective governance.
The Result
We have been very fortunate to support so many kids with their pursuit toward receiving a college education over the past 15 years. Yet, because the foundation’s structure and processes have changed very little over time, we experienced barriers to further growth. We solicited ESC to assist us in Board development, focused on bringing us up to speed with industry standards and, ultimately, reigniting our presence.
